Pueblo, Colo., Sep. 4, 2025 – The historic Dutch Clark Stadium is ready for the 2025-26 season following the completion of a $5.2 million renovation, introducing modern safety features and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility improvements to Pueblo’s most iconic sports venue.
Through a partnership between D60 and PURA, Dutch Clark Stadium has benefited from two phases of renovations and improvements funded through $5.2 million in tax incremental financing generated from PURA’s St. Charles Urban Renewal district.
Key upgrades include:
Structural and facility improvements
- The installation of a retaining wall to stabilize the lower road that leads to the main locker rooms.
- A regraded and repaved parking lot, and the installation of sidewalks around the perimeter of the parking lot.
- An improved entry feature to welcome guests to the stadium.
- Renovations and upgrades to press boxes, home and visitor locker rooms, office and storage areas, and all public restrooms.
Safety and accessibility
- Installation of improved lighting for added illumination at evening events.
- Reconditioned and textured stadium stairs to provide easier mobility.
- Installation of handrails that offer safer navigation and improved movement throughout the venue.
- ADA improvements to the existing restrooms and the addition of two ADA pods that provide added mobility and access for guests.
“We are very grateful for the partnership with PURA that has brought Dutch Clark Stadium into the 21st century and beyond,” said D60 Superintendent Dr. Barbara Kimzey. “As the center of sports activity in Pueblo, these renovations will make the Dutch Clark Stadium viewing and playing experience much more enjoyable and safe for our scholars and supporters.”
This renovation project comes at a prime time as Pueblo was designated a “Destination Verified” City by Wheel the World in partnership with Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, Visit Pueblo and the City’s ADA Commission. Earlier this year, 23 Pueblo businesses and attractions were recognized for handicap accessibility and highlighted as welcoming, inclusive and accessible sites for travelers with disabilities.
“The ADA Advisory Committee is very proud of its success in advising the subject parties about practical, common sense ADA improvements to make this public venue of Dutch Clark Stadium more accessible to more people,” said Sharon Campbell, Chair of the ADA Advisory Committee. “To have these renovations completed by the start of this year’s football season allows more individuals in Pueblo and visitors from other surrounding communities to support the athletes and high school students who compete in the stadium year-round.
“We are proud to see a collaborative effort from Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority, District 60 and others who considered the advisement of the ADA Committee for optimal possible accessibility.”
Special recognition goes to H.W. Houston Construction, the general contractor for the project, whose expertise and dedication ensured the successful completion of the Dutch Clark Stadium renovations, delivering a safer, more accessible, and modernized venue for the community.
To thank PURA and the Pueblo ADA Advisory Committee for their generous support, the District will recognize these two agencies on the “big screen” scoreboard and over the public address system during high school football games on September 4, 5 and 6 and October 10.
