The Plan: 2009-2034

A principal goal of the Union Avenue plan is a historic rehabilitation and to stimulate new construction of underutilized sites. Lively and pedestrian-friendly commercial, residential and office-oriented neighborhoods are important to a healthy core of any community.

Property Improvements

• PURA has invested in small businesses through property improvement funds. The B Street Streetscape beautification project included 1,000 square feet of outdoor dining space to carry out the intention of activating downtown Pueblo.
• Pedestrian Alleyway Project
• PURA has served as a grant partner for many historical preservation efforts including Kushnir Building and Mesa Junction Staircase.

Fuel & Iron Redevelopment Project

In 2021, PURA entered into a cooperation agreement with the City of Pueblo to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Holmes Hardware property that will become the highly anticipated Fuel & Iron Food Hall.
