The Plan 2024-2049

Colorado Smelter was established in 2024 to help provide important services to the area, attract private investment, and to eliminate and prevent conditions of blight.  PURA worked diligently with representatives from the mayor’s office, community members from Bojon Town and Bessemer, and the health department to draw the boundary.  Since then, work continues in identifying viable projects that will increase the quality of life in the neighborhood.  The first assessment in TIF will take place in 2026.

Benedict Park Improvements

PURA has allocated $91,000 to participate in the implementation of upgrades to Benedict Park as part of a larger grant funded project through Colorado Health Foundation.  PURA’s investment will go toward lighting enhancements in the park intended to facilitate safety.  Other upgrades include the playground, basketball court, and the addition of a trail around the perimeter of the park.
